Lhianna Bodiford (La Lihanna) is offering an "Introduction to Flamenco/ Beginning Flamenco Dance" at Angler Movement Arts Center

Description: Flamenco music and dance comes from the gypsies of Andalucia (the southernmost region of Spain).  This folk music is an expression of strong emotions and is similar, in it’s raw style and rough origins, to the American Blues. This class is intended to be an introduction to the dance and rhythm of Flamenco. You will get an overview of the different types of traditional flamenco dances and their meanings. Through simple exercises and short choreography sequences you will be introduced to the basic techniques required by the dance: compass (rhythm), footwork, arm-work and posture. No previous dance experience of any kind is necessary.

What to wear: women- long full skirts, sturdy low heeled(btwn. 1.5 -2.5 inches) shoes (like a character shoe); men- non-baggy pants and shirt, sturdy low heeled boots or shoes.

Note: please do not purchase anything before the first class as I will give you more information then.

Ages: 12 years and up.
