Every time Edwin Aparicio takes the stage in Philadelphia, he brings down the house. He has been featured at the Feria de Sevilla in Philadelphia at the International House twice. And twice he has given audiences the thrill of an authentic performance one would only expect to find in a dark, smoky tablao in Spain. The closing night of the 2005 2nd Annual Feria de Sevilla in Philadelphia Edwin was joined by his frequent dance partner Anna Menendez and daughter of the great Jose Greco, Carmela Greco. Ana was graceful, energetic and highly stylized- the picture of beauty. Carmela danced like a wild woman- raw and real. All three dancers wooed the audience with their own style, but it was Edwin that stole the show with his playful style and mastery of technique. Edwin is my favorite stateside male flamenco bailaor. His incredible control and energy are absolutely captivating. It may sound clichéd, but you have to see him to believe him. Rarely will you find a dancer who simultaneously possesses power, grace and energy and technical ability as Edwin does.To read more about Edwin Aparicio, his projects, upcoming performances or contact information, visit FlamencoAparicio on the web. |
